DofE Bronze Practice Expedition

On Saturday 29 June 2018, our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh members embarked on their practice expedition. Students started the day by walking to Raywell Scout Campsite from Cottingham High School. Upon arrival, they pitched their tents and cooked a meal over a trangia stove. On the morning of Sunday 1 July, students packed up their tents and had breakfast in preparation for their day of walking, the final destination being South Hunsley School.

The Bronze practice expedition prepares members for their qualifying expedition and gives young people the chance to enjoy the outdoors whilst gaining skills such as team work, initiative and self reliance.

South Hunsley's Duke of Edinburgh Award Manager, Miss J Oxlade, said: "Students enjoyed an excellent expedition this weekend and despite the heat, our bronze members did fantastic. They worked fantastically as a team and pulled together to navigate across lowlands, up and down hills and through woods. Participants should be extremely proud of what they have achieved this weekend."
