Seven Silver Duke of Edinburgh members completed their practise expedition in the Howardian Hills over the bank holiday weekend. Students spent 7 hours completing planned walking activities and two overnight camps in order to prepare for their assessed expedition.
Manager of DofE at South Hunsley School, Miss J Oxlade, said: “The girls did a phenomenal job working together as a team to navigate through the Howardian Hills, travelling through woods, across hills and even they caught a glimpse of Castle Howard in the distance. Not only were the girls out walking, but they had to set up their own campsite and cook a meal each day over a trangia stove. In spite of the heat of the weekend, teamwork pulled through and saw the girls successfully pass their practise expedition.”
South Hunsley School is a directly licensed centre of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, which is the world's leading youth achievement award.
