Former student Alex Dalton goes Pro

Former student Alex Dalton has achieved a lot since completing his A-Levels at South Hunsley in 2015. After starting cycle racing at the age of 13 he has gone on to win a number of elite races including the Yorkshire Elite Road Race Championship. By the time he reached Sixth Form here at South Hunsley he was competing across the country every weekend – which made A-Levels quite a balancing act for him. This year Alex has even been offered his first UCI professional contract with Ribble Pro Cycling.

Although his family’s story doesn’t start with him – his father’s cousin was Andrés Incera, a Basque cyclist from Northern Spain. He competed multiple times in the Vuelta a España and also twice podiumed in the Tour of Britain.

This year the Ribble Pro Cycling team that Alex is a member of and consists of riders with many national titles and commonwealth gold medals, has been selected to take part in the Tour De Yorkshire. The race, which takes place this week 2-5 May not only goes straight through North Ferriby where Alex lives, but also goes past the front of South Hunsley. Unfortunately, Alex isn’t part of the 6 selected from his team to compete in this year’s race, however we wish him the best of luck for his future in the sport.

We will all be cheering his team on as they pass the school on Thursday!
