We are delighted to share with you that South Hunsley School has been selected as the secondary school host for day 3 of the Youth Climate Summit, which will run from the 9 - 13 November 2020. Coordinated by environmental charity Global Action Plan, with the support of a team of dedicated teachers, the Youth Climate Summit is a free, week-long virtual festival of themed discussions and activities focusing on the importance of our environment in tackling climate change. We are very proud to have been chosen to host day 3 of the summit (Wednesday 11 November) with the theme for the day being Food, Farming and Forests. In preparation for this, students from South Hunsley’s Eco Committee have been filming a short video about the importance of our environment in relation to Food, Farming and Forests and how we must take action in tackling climate change. The virtual festival will be live streamed across the week so everyone has the chance to watch the sessions online. To follow this event, people can register at: https://www.transform-our-world.org/
This is an excellent opportunity for South Hunsley to get involved with an important global issue and give our young people a voice on an issue that matters to them.
In addition to this, three of our students Jasmine J, Izzy H and Jennifer C have been successful in their application for the role of Youth Ambassadors for our region. This is an amazing achievement and we are very proud of the hard work and dedication these students have shown to be awarded the opportunity to represent the school through this role.
Our thanks also to Miss Digard for her hard work and commitment in leading the South Hunsley’s Eco Committee which has resulted in our school being part of this year’s Youth Climate Summit.
