We have recently been listed as the 10th Top State Sports School in the country by School Sports Magazine and were announced as the winners of the Outstanding Sporting Achievement at the Hull Daily Mail's 'Golden Apple Awards' for 2017. Building on this success, South Hunsley School PE students were again recognised for some of their sporting achievements at the Hull Daily Mail ‘Sporting Champions Awards 2017' last night.
The Sports Champions Awards, which took place on Wednesday 24 January, highlighted some of the great success which has been achieved in amateur and professional sport across Hull and East Riding. Several South Hunsley School students were shortlisted for awards including Megan H who was a finalist in the Junior Sportswoman catergory (16-18). We are pleased to announce that Finlay P won the Junior Boy (under-16) category and Jess P won the Junior Girl (under-16) category.
Finlay P was recognised for his success in cycling having been chosen for the British Olympic Development Academy and representing Yorkshire at the Inter Regional Mountain Bike Championships. Finlay was also selected to take part in the 4 man GB Team in the Coppa Di Sera Esordient II Anno (Regional Road Race).
The Junior Girl's category was dominated by South Hunsley students. Sarah L was shortlisted for her many Horse Racing successes and Emma S for her Trampoling achievements. The winner of the award was Jess P who was recognised for her football achievements which include; signing for Manchester City Development Squad and scoring a hat-trick on her debut against Aston Villa, making a recent debut for Man City Women's first team and playing in the UEFA development tournament for England Under-16s. Jess also played for the UEFA Women's Under-17 Euro Qualifiers in Latvia.
