School children from across the Humber attended a great event at Hymers College making its debut in the Humber for the first time. The Brownlee Foundation, created by the very talented GB triathletes Jonny and Alistair Brownlee, inviting over 800 super keen schoolchildren to their first ever triathlon.
29 primary schools from across the Humber attended the event each bringing a class of keen athletes. The event was a huge success, with 29 schools attending, and all the participants completing the swim, bike and a run.
The young leaders portrayed a mature and professional manner throughout the day whilst enthusing and motivating the children taking part. It was great to see them running part of the circuit with some of the children to help them along.
Many teachers commented on the lovely welcome and greeting the girls had given them on arrival and at the start of the disciplines and this is all credit to the team. They organised themselves well and rotated roles during the day to add variety and were happy to help.
