Students become mental health ambassadors!

The mental health and wellbeing of both our students and staff is a top priority for us at South Hunsley. This month The Education Alliance launched their ‘Be Well Programme’ in partnership with Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Humber Teaching NHS FT. As part of this programme we are continuing to work in partnership with Hull and East Yorkshire Mind to provide support and improve the facilities available to students who may be struggling with their mental health.

Last academic year 30 of our students undertook training to enable them to become wellbeing ambassadors for the school. This training enables the ambassadors to run sessions and events with the aim of introducing positive changes in school with regards to mental health and wellbeing. Students were presented with their official status last week and congratulated for the hard work they have put in so far by the MIND team.

Head of Hercules house and School Mental Health Lead, Jonathan Irwin, said: The Wellbeing Ambassador scheme gives our students the chance to promote positive mental health in school by running wellbeing events and speaking to students. It is a great chance for them to lead change in school and it is exciting to see the ideas the ambassadors are coming up with!"
