On Wednesday 18 July, Year 12 students visited the Chemistry Department at the University of Hull.
Students worked in the University’s teaching Chemistry labs to synthesise an alkene from an alcohol. The practical task students completed was one which the University use for their undergraduates in their first semester at University.
The experience allowed students to develop their practical skills and understanding, which is an essential part to their A-Level course, in addition to working in a university lab.
Many thanks to Dr Mike Hird and the University of Hull for running the sessions for the students.
