Year 7 Netball Season

Our year 7 Netball team has performed exceptionally well this season with the team even making it to the highest standard students their age can reach in the sport. Over 30 girls started the club back at the beginning of the academic year, and many have gone on to represent the school throughout the year in a number of matches on their journey to the Yorkshire Finals.

In the final tournaments the squad of 10 girls managed to beat everyone in the local round and went through as winners to the Humber Youth Games. This competition was against the best two teams from North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, Hull and East Riding. Once again our squad showed determination; commitment and stamina as we went on to win every single game.

The team then made their way to the Yorkshire finals, held at the English Institute of sport. The girl’s first game was against St Aidans who are well known for their netball ability and ended up beating them 17-6. The winning streak didn’t end there with the team winning their next game against Huntington 22-4, and then every game after!

As well as showing excellence, drive, commitment and determination the students demonstrated sportsmanship and fantastic etiquette throughout all of the tournaments. Mrs Sprakes said ‘the girls showed respect for their team mates, coach, opponents and umpires and were an absolute pleasure to take out and we are proud of them for representing our School’.

Well done to all the girls involved, not only is it a huge achievement to reach the highest standard students in Year 7 can reach in the sport but also to not lose a match all season, we can’t wait to see what you achieve next year!
